Owner/Buyer/Service Tech Extraordinaire
When you find your passion, pursue it! That’s what Doug did while attending the University of New Hampshire. An Economics major with a blossoming cycling career through the mid-80’s and early 90’s took Doug to Italy, Australia and New Zealand with the US National Cycling Team. From his very first Marinoni to his current Trek Madone, he has always possessed an ability to finely tune a bike, build reliable and strong wheels, identify and resolve issues of the simplest to greatest scales, and manage a great commitment of success within the cycling industry! He is the only person that could complete the 160 km D2R2 ride on a wheel that broke seven spokes! He likes spending time on his Santa Cruz Bronson, exploring dirt roads, chasing his kids at Berkshire East or Highland MTB Park, skiing and hopes to get back to Europe for some long mountainous riding!
JAN BOLLAND TANNER
Bike Fitter/Retail Sales/etc.
There isn’t anything that Jan does that gets less than a 100% effort! A rower at University of New Hampshire, a BS in Biochemistry, a 1992 TTT World Champion in Benidorm, Spain, numerous years on the US National Cycling team for road, mountain bike and cyclocross, and several National Championship titles. All this provides a glimpse of the passionate person she is! She leads the curve in bike fitting and takes each experience with pride! Balancing life with three teenagers, a business and lots of community involvement keeps the intensity up when she’s on her Pinarello F8! If you are looking for a specialty cake or pastry, maybe she will make one for you! Peace is found while riding hills, canoe camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Give her an opportunity to be outdoors and she is gone!
Count on Pete to greet you and find something to laugh about! He’s a lifelong cyclist, commuted for two years straight without a car, and knows pretty much everything about all cycling products! Pete is our designated ‘Genius Man’ when it comes to electronics and virtual experiences, and is happy when a customer loves their bike and products! A UConn graduate of Political Science, he has worked with AmeriCorps, Best Buddies and The Hartford Courant. His 10+ years with Benidorm Bikes provides a shared sense of humor…kind of like ‘Cheers’. His dream bike is being decided. Meanwhile, look for him on distant rural roads exploring for the next great coffee and pastry destination!
Charlie’s affection for bikes developed as he learned to replace his very own, worn out drive train many moons ago! His knowledge and skill encompasses the broad spectrum of bikes and their individual technologies, but his personal preference is for the simplicity of a single speed or fixed gear bike. Whether racing or commuting, one gear fits his style of riding…and you’ll be lucky to keep up with him! He’s a father of three, a great vegetarian cook and a wood craftsman. Charlie has been a skilled bike mechanic with us for over five years and is the most photogenic in the shop. He looks forward to the Root 66 MTB Series and many car-free commutes in the coming years!
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, another incredible advancement in bike technology comes our way. Rob has been servicing bikes since 1990. He has witnessed the constant development within the industry and has developed his skills throughout. His sweet hardtail Fat Chance longs for another ride, but Rob plans to check out new trails throughout the Northeast on his ‘new school’ Santa Cruz 5010! Rob is our social one…looking to share in a great meal accompanied by good beer or wine and friends. He maintains an active schedule, so look for him camping, hiking, snowboarding or at a concert.
Every business needs a resident museum curator turned cycling enthusiast. Jodi is that, and more! She discovered the joys of cycling at ‘mid-life’ and has embraced the lifestyle whole-heartedly, even mixing it up with triathlon. When she isn’t “Mom” to her two boys, you’ll find her swimming, riding, running or researching her next triathlon. If she has a moment to breathe, she’s catching up with a great book, friends and family or nurturing her limited edition Specialized S-Works Amira. Her hidden talents include creative Halloween costume design, softball, Corvette history, the state of Michigan and creating inventory matrices.
A kid that owns a truck and still rides a bike is pretty cool! Adam, a senior at Granby High School, has played soccer and tennis, but has a growing passion for bikes. Engineering, business and the Air Force ROTC are his interests for college. At such a young age, his favorite bike is the Stumpjumper 6Fattie. A Santa Cruz Stigmata just joined the ranks and he looks forward to some commuting, road riding and cyclocross racing at college…now that’s being smart. Some day he’d like to ride the trails again in the wonderful Rocky Mountains and to keep up with Charlie and Jan on a Specialized Turbo Levo (haha)!
You know what it’s like to see your kids grow up…well, Keith balanced high school, sports and working at Benidorm Bikes since he was 16 years old. Now he’s a senior at Southern New Hampshire University! As a psychology major, he has counseled many friends, co-workers and trees while cruising the trails in CT and NH. He would much rather ‘tent’ in the woods than have a night in the city. Surprisingly, he enjoys long walks on the beach and dancing in the rain. He hopes to find himself moving out west, four-wheeling at Moab and Whistler and owning a Santa Cruz V10c.
